Private Property
- Taking a picture of a private property from a public domain is permitted without consent from the landowner.
- The landowner has the right to impose any restrictions he wishes upon entry to his property, including a restriction on photography.
- There is law prohibiting photographing a public building or park for private use.
- There is a prohibition on taking photographs in Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square in London for commercial use.
- The same prohibition applies in the Royal Parks.
- It is illegal to stalk a subject in order to get a photograph of them, or to repeatedly thrust a camera into their face.
- The use of a long lens to take a photo of someone in a private place has been outlawed, even though the photo is take from a public place.
Photgraphs of children
- It is prohibited to take indecent pictures of children under the age of 18.
- It is permitted to photograph children in a public area.
- A child under 16 may be used as a paid model only with a license obtained from the local authority.
