Movie Scripts

A movie script, or screenplay, is a dossier which has all the information about the movie or soap in it.
1) Layout
The screenplay will always have the Company's name, writers and directors names, title of movie, date shooting is set to begin and date of revioson of script.
The screenplay is set up so that one page of screen play is equal to one minute of screen time. (e.g. a 90 minute movie will typically have 90 pages in the screenplay.)
The font of a screenplay is Courier New at 12 pt.

2) Information on Screenplay
The screenplay includes information such as; Dialogue, Location of shot, Transitions, Music, and Actions of actors and actresses.

Dialogue
Dialogue is insetted one tab-space into page and is headed with the name of character saying that line. When the dialogue is a voice over (v.o) is placed after the characters name.

Location of shot
The location of the shot is printed whenever there is going to be a new view. The abbreviations INT. (internal) and EXT. (external) are used to state the location of the shot. After the heading of the location it will say DAY or NIGHT. These are done so that whoever is involved in the filming of this shot will know when and where they are going to be..

What this is saying is that the following shot takes place inside the National Gallery in the portrait section during the day.

Transition
The screenplay will state what type of transition will be used. cross dissolve, fade or ripple...

Music
The script will say what type of music will be used during the following scene.

Actions
In the screenplay it will tell the actors what to do.
